As the year comes to a close, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting. With my children home today for a “snow day,” it reminded me of my childhood.
You know, when you would have to watch the television to see if your school name popped up as one of the ones closed. When it did, it was so exciting because you had the whole day to do whatever you wanted. But now, life is a little more hectic. After navigating through, let's call it the big ick, schools are more familiar with ways to keep students learning from home. So what does that mean for working parents?
For many parents, it can feel like you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place - having to either call out of work and miss out on hours on your paycheck or find someone last minute to watch your kids while you go into the office. That’s why I’m SO passionate about helping Boss Bish women move out of those corporate boxes and see how they can create a business that gives them the freedom to EMBRACE the “snow days.”
Ready for a Shift
I remember that anxious feeling - that guilt. The snow was falling and the daycares were closed… but I was still expected to show up to work no matter what. Trying to scramble to figure out what to do with your child or build up the courage to call out for a sick day really messes with your psyche. That’s why so many people are ready to build something of their own.
So many of my clients start their entrepreneurial journey while they are still working their corporate jobs and occasionally, it’s a struggle for them to see the big picture. Even though they KNOW they WANT to build their own empire - it might feel like they are sloshing through five feet of snow trying to make it a reality. But I’m here to tell you it is possible. Don't stay stuck in the “grind,” living to work and feeling burnt out. You deserve to actually LIVE - to have time for your family, for yourself, and for the things that light you up inside.
Step into Your “Boss Bish” Energy
So how can you step out of that “struggle” and into your Boss Bish Energy? First of all, you have to have FUN! It wasn’t until my husband and I started doing what we actually enjoyed in our businesses that the shift started to happen. We decided what we wanted our lives to look like, and how we wanted to share our magic with the world. Then we actually took the steps each day to make it happen. The best part? You have the power to do that too.
You are in control of your thoughts, your words, and your actions - and all those things combined can help you to create a brand new, badass reality. ALLOWING yourself to take those first steps, to get past the doubts or limiting beliefs...that is what you NEED to do. Because in reality, we are usually the only ones standing in our own way. Regardless of the haters, the naysayers, and the Negative Nancy’s… we have full autonomy over our choices. So what are you choosing?
Take Imperfect Action
You don’t have to know everything before you start. In fact, if you’re waiting for that day to come, you’re probably never going to start and scale your business. Because even after years of improving on your craft, there is still going to be someone somewhere out there that knows more than you. The goal isn’t perfection - the goal is to take those first messy, wobbly baby steps so that you CAN grow. You can be a Boss Bish and STILL not know all the things.
Focus on what you DO know. Step into your power. Find YOUR magic and do the things that set your soul on fire. Then, surround yourself with people who lift you up and remind you of how badass you are.
