Learn to Rest So Your Business Can Grow: Automating and Aligning Your Business so that you can rest when needed and build the business of your dreams.

It’s time to start taking care of you! We are heading into the holiday season… which also brings a lot of germs. This time of year, so many of us are getting sick and, if you’ve come from a corporate environment, you may be hesitant about taking time to rest. The thing is, you shouldn’t have to worry about deadlines and meetings when you need to take care of yourself. This past week landed me in the hospital but the last thing on my mind was my business. Why? Because I’ve set it up in a way that gives me a chance to make myself and my family a priority every day.

It’s my job to help you get out of the overwhelm and create a business that leaves you feeling overjoyed! You should be doing what you love to do and what makes your heart sing - that includes prioritizing your needs. So, today we are talking bout the important steps that you need to take at the beginning of your business that will enable you to take time for yourself when you need to.

Setting Up Your Systems

Systems and processes are the backbone of your business. When you have one in place - and you automate it - everything is on auto-pilot. It’s all just happening for you in the background of your day and you don’t have to stress about it. Here are two systems that I recommend starting off with.

  • Streamline your Discovery Calls: Have your Discovery Call links in place, with any forms, automated reminder emails, and follow-up emails. Also, be sure to link your scheduler to your up-to-date calendar so you don’t have any overlapping or overbooked appointments.

  • Batch Your Social Media: Create content for the whole week in advance and you won’t have to worry about coming up with something on the fly each day. Pre-record your Reels, TikToks, or video content so that all you have to do is copy and paste your caption and post.

Work with People Who Know You’re Human

One of the things that I always stress to those in my Mastermind is finding clients and team members that share your values. Working with clients and team members that understand that you are human and need rest days, is so important. Sometimes I even have clients that message me to yell at me when they catch me working while I’m sick or supposed to be taking care of my family. Find people like that - people who understand that you are human and that it’s not the end of the world if you need to postpone a meeting or extend a deadline.

Communication is Key

You have to understand that what you’re doing as a service provider is not corporate - at all. There is no more PTO to worry about or the need to call your boss to ask for permission for time off. But what you do need, is clear communication with your clients and team. Be sure to keep the lines of communication open and notify your clients when you are sick or need to step away from your desk. There is nothing worse than being out of the loop. As long as you inform the people you work with what is happening, I promise you that they will be more worried about you being okay than missing a meeting. Be completely transparent and you’ll never have anything to worry about.

For many of us, the reason we start this business is for the freedom. The freedom to be present for our children and for ourselves. So, be sure to keep that at the forefront of your mind. Take time to ask yourself if you actually ARE giving your amazing badass self the chance to prioritize your needs alongside your business. Yes, this also applies to small things like feeding yourself, taking bathroom breaks, and getting water. When you take care of yourself, your business will grow quicker than you expect.
